Join us as we explore themes of love, conflict, greed, aging, mental illness, and the pressures of modern society. Our songs ask questions, challenge perspectives, and ask rhetorical questions of spirituality and the human experience. The music has a backdrop of symphonic progressive rock with threads of classic rock woven throughout, while the music is brought to life by the captivating voice of our female vocalist

Our Musical Journey

What About Darcy (WAD) began with a pick-up gig for a private gathering of friends in Palm Coast, Florida. While rehearsing for that show, the then-unnamed musical ensemble quickly realized how well the musicians clicked together. We liked what we heard, so we decided to keep it going.

At the time, three of us were in our early to mid-60s, along with a female vocalist in her mid-40s and what we jokingly called our “rookie drummer”—in his late 20s but already touring nationally. Every member of the group brought a wealth of live performance experience.

We rehearsed constantly, eventually renting an air-conditioned storage unit so we could leave our equipment set up and focus entirely on playing together. Soon after, we booked three non-paying “audition” shows at large waterfront restaurants in the Daytona Beach area—and were hired at all three on the spot.

Our sound centered on classic rock with songs that were challenging to perform and with strong vocal harmonies—music that allowed the experienced musicianship of the band to shine. As one band member described it: “Vintage.” That challenge we set for ourselves paid off for many years.

A couple of years ago we looked back and realized that, as a band, we had never written and produced our own music together. So about two and a half years ago, WAD decided to change that.

Therefore, we are proud to present the first full-length album from the What About Darcy Band: "Reflections at Sunset", featuring 17 original tracks. We hope you enjoy listening to it as much as we enjoyed creating it.
